"Annual Hunt and “Day on the Hill"
to be held on
January 20-23, 2012
It is our pleasure to invite you to our Society’s Annual Hunt and “Day on the Hill” to be held on January 20-23. There will be great food, fun and fellowship…and an opportunity to make a difference for our specialty.
Schedule

Friday, January 20: Arrive at the beautiful Dogwood Plantation in Cairo, Georgia. Quail hunting and skeet shooting on an individual basis are available.

Saturday, January 21: We will start the day with a delicious country-style breakfast at the Plantation to be followed by quail hunting. Training for handgun and shotgun will be available for those interested. The instructor is James Rutland; he will be available Friday and Saturday, for beginners and experts.

We will have lunch at the camp to be followed by the Tower Pheasant Shoot in the afternoon. . In the evening we will gather at Kevin’s Guns and Sporting Goods in Thomasville for a specially prepared wild-game dinner. Kevin will offer a private showing of this unique facility that features hunting and fishing gear, sports apparel, plantation furnishings and a high value gun room.

Sunday, January 22: We will begin the day with breakfast, followed by a morning quail hunt and pheasant clean-up hunt for those who wish. Lunch will be available for those hunting and staying at the camp.

The FSOMS Board of Directors will be meeting from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. in Tallahassee at the office of our lobbyist, Mike Huey (See directions below). All attendees are encouraged to attend the Board meeting to hear about the important issues facing our specialty. That evening we will be transported to the home of Judy and Jim Davis for another spectacular dinner.

Monday, January 23: “Day on the Hill”: This is the key day of the year for our organization. We will begin with an orientation breakfast at Mike Huey’s office. Our lobbying team will review the key issues before our specialty and prepare for our individual visits with the legislators. We will have a joint lunch with several of the legislators, to be followed by more legislative visits in the afternoon. Those not interested in the hunt can attend the “Day on the Hill” only.

Housing: For your convenience, we have reserved a block of rooms listed under the Florida Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons at the Doubletree Hotel, located just a few blocks from the capitol in downtown Tallahassee. To reserve, please call the hotel at 800.222.8733. The room rate is $103, plus tax, per night.

The Dogwood Plantation also has a limited number of rooms. Please call Laura at the FSOMS Administrative office (877.831.2500) if you are interested in making reservations at the Plantation. Laura can also help you with overnight accommodations in Thomasville if the Plantation is full.

Directions to Board Meeting/Day on the Hill activities:
The address is 301 South Bronough Street - Plaza Level (Florida League of Cities Building). It is right next door to Harry's Seafood Bar & Grill. The public parking garage is Kleman Plaza, entrance on Duval or Bronough Streets (Between College Ave. and Pensacola Street), which is directly beneath the building. Take elevator to the Plaza level, and the building will be directly behind as you exit the elevators. Look for FSOMS sign.
