Anesthesia

Anesthesia permit holders must complete at least four (4) hours of continuing education relating to anesthesia each biennium the permit is held. Effective May 24, 2005, this includes two (2) hours dealing with the management of medical emergencies. These hours would be included in the 30 hours of continuing education required by Section 466.0135(1), F.S.

A dentist or dental hygienist does not need to take HIV/AIDS and Domestic Violence in the current biennium if he or she completed either course in the previous biennium. If a dentist or dental hygienist elects not to take these two courses in the current biennium, they may substitute the courses for any board approved courses.

Effective May 31, 2004 - As part of the minimum standard of care, every dental office location shall be required to have an automatic external defibrillator by February 28, 2006. Any dentist practicing after February 28, 2006 without an automatic external defibrillator on site shall be considered to be practicing below the minimum standard of care.
